District Governors Special Appreciation Awards for Service were received by the below members of GNCL;
1. Lion Sanuri Gurusinghe for organizing the Regional Outing of Region 2
2. Lion Sudaththa Ariyasena for organizing the Multi Service World Childrens Day Project held at Alakoladeniya Kanishta Vidyalaya, Kurunegala
3. Lion Teshan Dilanka for sponsoring the Vision project (donating 180 nos of reading glasses and sponsoring for opticians) held jointly with Lion Club of Gothatuwa New Town at the Gothatuwa Kande Viharaya
4. Lion Suranga Mendis for organizing “Gift a Plant” continuous project since the inception of this club
These awards were received by them for the valuable effort they have given to serve and for the betterment of the club and lionism.
